Pending Further Development

Subjunctive Lyrics in Music

- Lyrics convey a very vague description yet "speaks volumes"

- Could be because the words prime and trigger certain concepts and their related sub-concepts

- Evokes OUR own picture of reality, perhaps in idealistic or poignantly sentimental terms!

- We then attach our psychological interpretation - with all the entailing affective associations - onto the lyrics!

The lyrics become a stimulus that summons (or induces?) a selective 'visage' or image to the forefront of our minds. It's not just a perspective, it's also a mood. This can have a therapeutic effect or depressive one. Compare the songs "Beyond the Sea" or "Suicide is Painless" respectively to see what I mean:
